Tigers Going To Spring Training With A Pat Hand

This wouldn't seen to be a good year to be one of the minor league players, 18 of them, to be invited to major league spring training by the Tigers.

Detroit has one for-sure opening on its projected 24-man roster, the fifth starter, with one possible bullpen spot up for grabs and a slim chance for a bench seat to open up.

You never know, though. Injuries happen; so do trades.

What it's really about for the 18 chosen minor leaguers is an opportunity. It's a chance to show management your upside, what you can do against Major League competition and fringe Major League players.
