Daniel Norris is going to be leaned on in 2016 as the Detroit Tigers look to rework their starting rotation.

Now, it seems that the 22-year-old will be missing some time this winter to undergo surgery for thyroid cancer, as he announced on his Instagram account on Monday.

The Tigers traded for Norris at the trade deadline, dealing ace David Price to the Toronto Blue Jays. General Manager Al Avila reportedly said that the team was aware of Norris' condition before they traded for him, and that they expect him to make a full recovery.

There's no word yet on how much time Norris is due to miss because of the surgery.
