Three Degrees Of Pat Caputo
Three reasons Tigers' manager Jim Leyland should not have put Jose Valverde in the game during the eighth inning of the Tigers' 3-1 victory over the Yankees Monday night:
1. Valverde has been pitching with a stomach injury, so he doesn't exactly need the extra work.
2. Valverde hasn't been any more effective than the Tigers' other relievers lately.
3. The last time Leyland did this against a premier team on the road - at Fenway Park in Boston vs. the Red Sox - it was a disaster.
