Theme, Speakers Announced For Mackinac Conference
MACKINAC ISLAND (WWJ/AP) - The Detroit Regional Chamber says this year's policy conference on Mackinac Island will focus on energizing, rebuilding and reinventing Michigan.
The chamber on Tuesday released the topics for the June 1-3 get-together at the Grand Hotel.
Also announced were the event's keynote speakers, which will include United Auto Workers President Bob King and Harvard Business School professor Michael Porter.
WWJ's Vickie Thomas spoke with President Sandy Baruah who said there will be no more break-out sessions like there were last year -- and that it'll be much more fast-paced.
"We're keeping everyone in the big room. We are focused on big issues, big ideas, thought-provoking and action -- and it's going to be all in the big room," Baruah said.
The annual Mackinac Policy Conference brings together leaders of business and government and gives them a forum to discuss key issues affecting the state.
