Terry Foster: Leyland Needs Lineup Changes To Win Division

Tigers manager Jim Leyland doesn't like talking about the lineup. That is sort of humorous because all Tiger fans want to talk about is the lineup.

Leyland explodes when reporters ask about his lineup. Fans explode when he presents his lineup card.

Many of the fans don't like the players that Leyland trots out for games — well actually, they don't like the order in which he presents them. There is also the issue of resting players.

During the Tigers' 10-3 loss to Cleveland Wednesday night, Leyland rested three everyday starters. The Indians rested one. Last week, Leyland rested four starters and it has become maddening.

Leyland said he is OK if reporters want to present him with a lineup card — he simply does not want us to ask him about it.

OK. I have a solution for his problems: I will present my lineup that I challenge Leyland to play five days a week. If he does, then he will win this division and earn the contract extension that owner Mike Ilitch gave him.
