Temps To Drop Sharply In Metro Detroit, Plus Slippery Snow On The Way

DETROIT (WWJ) - Baby, it's cold outside — and it's going to get even chillier as we head toward the weekend.

WWJ AccuWeather Meteorologist Dean Devore says a blast of cold air will hit metro Detroit Wednesday night into Thursday — and the possibly of significant snow will follow.

Thursday and Friday high temperatures will only hit the low 30s, with real feel temperatures only in the teens. Devore says there will be snow showers around both days.

"And it looks like it's even colder on Saturday, folks," Devore added, "with temperatures staying in the 20s; and there's the potential for some slippery snow, accumulating snow it looks like Saturday night into Sunday morning. We'll keep an eye on that."

Meantime, watch out for some wind gusts during a chilly Wednesday.

Here's the detailed forecast for this week:

Wednesday: Cloudy skies early, then partly cloudy. High 36F. Winds SW at 10 to 20 mph.
Wednesday Night: Cloudy. Low 28F. Winds WSW at 10 to 20 mph.

Thursday: Cloudy. Flurries or snow showers. Temps around 30. Winds W at 15 to 25 mph.
Thursday Night: A few clouds. Low around 25F. Winds W at 10 to 20 mph.

Friday: Sunshine and clouds mixed. High 34F. Winds WNW at 10 to 15 mph.
Friday Night: Partly cloudy. Low 21F. Winds W at 10 to 15 mph.

Saturday: Partly cloudy in the morning; becoming overcast in the afternoon. High 31F. Winds WSW at 10 to 15 mph.
Saturday Night: Partly cloudy skies early will give way to occasional snow showers later. Low 24F. Winds S at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 50%. Snow accumulations less than one inch.

Sunday: Periods of snow. High around 35F. Winds S at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 80%. 1 to 3 inches of snow expected.
Sunday Night: Periods of snow. Low near 30F. Winds SW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 80%. Snow accumulating 3 to 5 inches.
