Syrian Locals Look For Political Spotlight On Growing Violence In Syria
DETROIT (WWJ) - International outrage has been growing over the Syrian government's bombardment of the city of Homs. In the metro Detroit area, a demonstration is planned at this hour in front of the Honorary Syrian Counsel in Troy.
Dr. Malaz Alatassi of Bloomfield Hills is from Homs. He says he likes to see the community stepping up to help the Syrian's by contacting political leaders.
"I would like to hear the people here voicing out to their senators and congressmen and do their best to put more pressure to help those people," said Alatassi.
About 200 people are expected at the demonstration Saturday.
