Suh Continues His Aggressive Play

--DT Ndamukong Suh twice knocked Patriots QB Tom Brady to the ground as the Lions harassed him throughout the first half (two sacks, five hits). When asked if he felt he frustrated Brady, Suh said, "I don't pay attention to his emotions. My job is to continue to rattle him, get after him and be in his face. When he starts yelling at me to leave him alone, then I know I've completed my job." Did he get a No mas from Brady? "No, he didn't say it," Suh said. "He doesn't talk much out there. He's a great quarterback and I have the utmost respect for him."

--P Ryan Donahue might be on his way to replacing veteran Nick Harris, who has been the Lions' punter for eight seasons. Donahue not only started Saturday but he also held for kicker Jason Hanson. "Ryan is part of our preseason rotation," Schwartz said. "He's punted well and held well. It's a different dynamic going out and doing it under the pressure of a sold-out crowd and a nationally televised game. We needed to see him in that situation."' Donahue handled the pressure. His two punts averaged 50 yards (though on his 58-yarder he might have outkicked the coverage). His net was only 33 yards. Harris also punted well, 48-yard average with a 43.5-yard net.

--MLB Stephen Tulloch and OLB Justin Durant have taken the Lions' defense up several notches. "Those guys have incredible closing speed," said DE Kyle Vanden Bosch. "We've got some thumpers behind us. If teams run the ball they are going to feel them back there. They are very instinctive and quick and when we penetrate they can make things happen. You don't have to be so worried about getting out of your gap because those guys will clean it up." Tulloch showed off his speed against the Pats, coming from seemingly out of nowhere to break up a pass in the flat.

--Return ace Stefan Logan is typically listed as a receiver, but the Lions have shifted him to running back on their depth charts and he's worked more out of the RB group the last week or more. The reason - it appears that veteran WR Maurice Stovall and Rashied Davis are both going to make the Lions' 53-man roster. Thus, the Lions will carry five receivers, not including Logan - Calvin Johnson, Nate Burleson, rookie Titus Young and the two veterans. Odd man out in that scenario would be veteran Derrick Williams.

--The Lions' red-zone efficiency continues to be off the charts. They converted four of six opportunities against the Patriots (with three touchdowns), bringing their preseason mark to 8 for 12. "We were one of the top teams in the league last year and we have to come out and practice to prove that again this year," Stafford said. "Last year means nothing as far as what we did. We've got to do it again." The Lions were second in the league last year in red zone efficiency scoring 29 touchdowns in 45 trips. Stafford, in his three games last season, engineered 10 drives into the red zone and came away with touchdowns nine times. "You still have to pick your poison against us in the red zone," C Dominic Raiola said. "We pride ourselves in being a good red zone team. We are trying to build on that. We want to let that be our calling card."
