Student Shot Near Detroit Central High

One student was injured when shots were fired into a crowd, Monday, near Detroit Central High School.

WWJ spoke with DPS spokeswoman Jennifer Mrozowski who said a fight broke out shortly after classes were dismissed for the day, outside the school on Tuxedo Street near the Lodge Freeway.

Shots were fired into the air and the crowd dispersed.

Shortly after, more shots were fired at a location off-campus and a female 10th grade student was wounded in the ankle.

The girl was taken to her home and then to Children's Hospital for treatment.  Mrozowski says the injury is not life threatening.

Mrozowski said there was no immediate indication that the shooter was DPS student.

Police are searching for suspects.
