Spooktacular Fun At The Metroparks
DETROIT (WWJ) - Are you tired of going to that same-old, typical haunted house? The local Huron-Clinton Metroparks have plenty of alternative events and activities for the season, which are fun for the whole family.
The Indian Springs Metropark will host its "Make a Halloween 'Boo'minary" on Sunday, October 21 at 1 p.m. Guests can create glowing Halloween luminaries and children can make two paper luminaries and a tin can luminary. The Great Pumpkin Hunt will be held on Saturday, October 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be food vendors, crafts, face-painting and more. It will be free for all ages. Contact Indian Springs at 248-625-6640 for more information.
Oakwoods Metropark offers evening lantern tours, which will be on Fridays and Saturdays, October 12 & 13, and 19 & 20 at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Guests can take a hayride, walk around the lantern-lit nature trail and enjoy cider and cookies. Lake St. Clair Metropark will offer an evening around the campfire on Friday, October 26 at 7 pm. Bring your children around the campfire for s'mores and spooky Halloween stories. Finally, Lake St. Clair will also present "Family Halloween – Creepy, Crawly Critters" on Friday, October 19, allowing guests to learn about creepy animals and enjoy snacks.
