Southwest Michigan Authorities Confiscate Emaciated Dogs
PAW PAW TOWNSHIP (AP) - Authorities in southwestern Michigan say they've confiscated a pair of emaciated dogs found chained up outside an apparently vacant home.
The Van Buren County sheriff's department says the mixed breed dogs found Wednesday in Paw Paw Township are part pit bull and their 33-year-old owner may face charges.
The department says the chains holding were caught around tree stumps, restricting the dogs' movement. Deputies say they found no water and a small amount of dry food nearby.
The dogs were taken from the home about 50 miles southwest of Grand Rapids to Van Buren County Animal Control. The prosecutor's office is expected to review the case.
