Snyder Says Big Changes Planned In Michigan Budget
LIVONIA (AP) - Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder says the state should expect major tax and budget "reforms'' when his administration announces his budget plan next week.
Snyder said Friday that Michigan has been "living off the legacy of a broken system'' and it's time to reinvent budget and tax systems. The changes are aimed at making Michigan more competitive in attracting businesses and jobs.
Snyder said state tax credits, including those for the film industry, will be looked at across the board.
Michigan faces a projected $1.8 billion budget shortfall for the fiscal year starting Oct. 1. The deficit could grow with certain proposed business tax changes.
Snyder's comments came at the headquarters of Livonia-based Roush Manufacturing where he attended the start of mass production of charging stations for electric vehicles.
