Sentencing In Officer's Hit-and-run Death
DETROIT (WWJ) - A Dearborn man convicted in the fatal car crash that killed a Taylor Auxiliary police officer will serve decades behind bars.
Third Circuit Court Judge Linda Parker, Tuesday, sentenced 40-year old Nino Delpiano to between 45 and 67 years in prison on the second degree murder conviction.
Prosecutors say he'll server that sentence concurrently with a 15 to 30 year sentence on several other charges including operating on a suspended license causing death; failure to stop at a scene of an accident when at fault, resulting in death; and failing to use due care when passing a stationary emergency vehicle, causing death.
Lt. Dan Kromer was hit and killed on I-94 last September. He had stopped to help a couple whose car had broken down.
Delpiano left the scene but was arrested a few days later.
