School Hosts Seminar To Discuss Grades, Behavior Reform

WATERFORD (WWJ) - Educators from across Michigan and beyond are headed to Waterford on Thursday to learn more about a program at a local school.

Beaumont Elementary will be hosting a seminar for educational leaders from around the nation to talk about a program they have implemented, called "The Seven Habits of Leadership."

Bob Piggott, PTA President of Beaumont Elementary, said the school started the program in the last year and want to share how well it works with other school districts.

"Educational leaders from around the state and outside of Michigan are coming to Beaumont Elementary to actually see how this program has changed the kids, changed the teachers and the faculty at Beaumont, for the good, and then take those ideas and try to implement those into their schools, or even their entire school districts," Piggott said.

Since implementing the program, the school has noticed drastic changes in the students, and in the staff.

"The grades are improving and discipline problems are decreasing. So, it's really been a wonderful program that the staff has implemented in the school. The staff at Beaumont, they are amazing, they got on board with this program," Piggott said.

According to Piggott, "The Seven Habits of Leadership" program stresses leadership and doing the right thing to prepare children for the 21st century.
