Reward Increases In Macomb County Fatal Hit-And-Run

WASHINGTON TWP. (WWJ) - Family and friends have contributed an additional $4,000, bringing the total reward up to $6,500 for information in the hit and run incident that killed a Macomb County mother of five.

The body of Sandra Lee Loepp, 37, was spotted by a passing motorist Sunday, Dec. 16, in the parking lot of the Washington Mobile Home Park, near Van Dyke and 28 Mile Road, in Washington Township. Police say Loepp had left Santino's Bar at 1 a.m., and got only about a half-mile before she was struck.

Macomb County Sheriff's officials said an investigation revealed Loepp was walking northbound on either the shoulder or the roadway of Old Van Dyke near Campground Road when she was hit and dragged to her death. The driver allegedly removed Loepp's body from their car before fleeing the scene.

Investigators believe the car that struck Loepp, the mother of five children, will have damage to the front end as well as the passenger side of the vehicle.

Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said some small bits of evidence were collected at the scene, but they didn't give investigators much information.

"We encourage the public to get involved," he said. "Crime Stoppers, family and friends are stepping up to help solicit information from the public to solve this case and bring closure to the family."

Family members say Loepp was talking time off to raise her family. She had previously been in management for 15 years and owned "The Party Supply Company." The company didn't survive the economy downfall, but Loepp still had dreams of someday owning her own event planning and decorating company.

Crime Stoppers of Michigan is offering a cash reward of up to $6,500 for information that leads to an arrest.

To submit a tip to Crime Stoppers, call 1-800 SPEAK-UP. You can also submit a tip online at www.1800speakup.org, or text "CSM" and your tip to CRIMES (274637). All calls and cash rewards are completely anonymous.

Loepp's family has also set up the Justice for Sandra Loepp Facebook page and a separate reward fund for tips leading to her killer. Anyone who would like to contribute to the reward fund can mail donations to: PO BOX 296, Memphis, Michigan 48041.

A fundraiser event has been planned for Wednesday, January 9 at Buffalo Wild Wings in Washington Twp (8669 26 Mile Rd.). 20% of purchases accompanied by this certificate will be donated to the Loepp Family.
