Retrial For Man Accused In 1967 Teen Murder

DETROIT (AP) - A man accused of tying up a 14-year-old Ohio schoolgirl in his basement for days in 1967 before killing her and dumping her body in southern Michigan has taken the stand at his retrial in Toledo.

Robert Bowman made several rambling statements and refused to answer some of his attorney's questions.

He also accused investigators of planting evidence against him. Bowman, now 75, is charged with murder in the death of Eileen Adams, a Toledo high school freshman who vanished on her way home from school.

Her body was found wrapped in a rug a month later in a southern Michigan field. Bowman's first trial ended in a hung jury.
