Report Looks At Student Dropout Rate
It pays to count up how many of the risk factors your child may have for dropping out of high school. A new report from the Baltimore Education Research Consortium has examined the 2000-01 cohort of sixth graders from the Baltimore City Schools in search of answers to the question of who drops out.
The report found four prevalent early warning indicators were missing 20 or more days of school, failing English, math, or both, being at least one year over-age for grade; and being suspended for three or more days.
Kids with these risk factors were half as likely to graduate as kids without.
