Red Wings Report: Notes, Quotes
--Todd Bertuzzi's first two-goal game of the season enabled him to record his 700th career point. Bertuzzi has been struggling since getting off a strong start. He had just one goal and two assists in his previous 13 games. The Wings will need his size and net-front presence down the stretch and in the playoffs.
--Goaltender Chris Osgood has skated in a warmup suit a few times this week. Next week he will don his equipment and go through some movements on the ice to see how he feels following surgery for a sports hernia on Jan. 11. Osgood believes he is making good progress and is confident he will return well before the playoffs. But the club needs to have a more firm idea before the Feb. 28 trade deadline, in case it needs to acquire a backup goalie for insurance.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"We talked about it enough, we had to go out and start playing like we know how. We know how crucial these points are. It seems like everyone in the West is winning right now and we were playing a very tough Boston team and we were ready.'' -- Wings forward Todd Bertuzzi.
