--The Wings, for the second consecutive game, had to play with 11 forwards Monday because of injuries (Pavel Datsyuk, Johan Franzen, Jiri Hudler) and a lack of salary-cap space. They won't be able to recall anybody from Grand Rapids (AHL) until goalie Chris Osgood is activated and Joey MacDonald is reassigned, freeing up some cap room. That should happen later this week.

--C Mike Modano hopes his game-tying power-play goal in Monday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Penguins is the spark he needs to jump-start his game. After missing three months following surgery to repair a severed tendon in his wrist, Modano has struggled to get up to speed. He had gone 11 games without a goal until Monday. He will have nine more games to get ready for the playoffs and believes that's ample opportunity to get his wind back.
