Rat Poison Scare At Ypsilanti Hospital
YPSILANTI (WWJ) - An Ypsilanti hospital was alert, Monday, after a man who reportedly swallowed rat poison was treated in the emergency room.
The Washtenaw County Sheriff's office told WWJ Newsradio 950 the man was treated at Saint Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti after swallowing the poison, and doctors became concerned that the man could release toxins into the air and put other patients and health care workers at risk.
Officials said one else became sick and the hospital remains open. The man's condition was not known and no other details were immediately released.
The unit where the man was treated was tested for any hazardous materials.
