Random Thoughts By Matt Dery 7-15-11

1.  The Tigers head into tonight tied with Cleveland atop the AL Central.  Five all-stars on the roster, an accomplished manager, and arguably the best pitcher in baseball reside in Detroit, there should be no excuses.  The Tigers should win the division.

2.  Saw on the local news last night that Brandon Inge told reporters once again that his struggles at the plate are "being blown out of proportion".  I think he should be very thankful that he plays here and not in St Louis, New York, or Philly.

3.  Ex Lions kick-returner Vernon Turner wrote a book?  Wow.  I cannot wait for Eddie Drummond's autobiography.

4.  Many spoiled Pistons fans are complaining that the team should have its coach in place already.  Would you rather be a Timberwolves supporter?  They left their bench boss, Kurt Rambis, hanging by a thread for nearly six weeks and now are considering Don Nelson of all people!

5.  Valenti and Foster had an incredible conversation yesterday in regards to the latest controversy at the Chrysler plant in Trenton.  The autoworkers who were busted for drinking and smoking pot during their lunch break should be held accountable.  There are too many good workers out there right now that are without jobs, and they should be able to step in and get an opportunity in place of those that are abusing the position.
