Progress For Math Performance

The results of the latest National Assessment of Educational Progress are in for mathematics, and while scores did not rise as much as had been hoped, many big changes were seen since the last nationwide exam.

The number of 4th grade students scoring proficient in math increased, and the number of African-American, Hispanic and low-income fourth graders at the proficient level more than doubled.

However, gaps still persist between student of Asian descent, white students, and minority students in their math scores, and these gaps have not changed in the past five years.
