Police Search For Vehicle In Royal Oak Murder Case

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - There may be new leads in the murder of an elderly Royal Oak woman.

WWJ's Ron Dewey said police are now looking for a white colored mini-van or SUV that was spotted in the Trafford Street neighborhood where Nancy Dailey was brutally slain in the course of a robbery.

Dailey was murdered Sunday night and was found with her throat cut and hands bound behind her back, according to police. It appears she struggled with her assailant before she lost her life, sometime between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. Her body was discovered Sunday night by a relative who was checking up on her.

Investigators combed through a pair of motels along the Woodward corridor near 12 Mile, not far from where the 80-year-old was killed, looking for evidence Monday night.

Police have not made any arrests in the case.

Anyone who may have any information is being asked to call Royal Oak Police at 248-246-3500.

Meantime, a spokesperson for the Pixley Funeral Home in Rochester said a service will be held for Dailey at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11. Dailey will be cremated.  The family will not hold a visitation are requesting donations be made to the Detroit Zoological Society.
