Police Search For Red SUV That Drove On Golf Course At Country Club
GROSSE POINTE FARMS (WWJ) - A motorist driving a red-colored SUV is wanted for turning a golf course into an off-road course.
The incident happened just before 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Country Club of Detroit along Kercheval Avenue near Moross Road in Grosse Pointe Farms.
Investigators with the Grosse Pointe Farms Department of Public Safety sent out an alert saying a red, midsize SUV with LED headlights was spotted driving on the golf course, and it caused "significant damages." After the joyride, police say the suspect drove away down Moross Road. Witnesses described the SUV as possibly a Ford Escape, Lincoln MKC or similar sized vehicle.
A superintendent at the country club, however, told WWJ Newsradio Thursday morning that crews assessed the golf course in daylight and found that the SUV drove around in the rough, but it didn't cause any damage.
If the suspect is caught, the country club says it will prosecute if trespasser. Anyone with any information is urged to contact police at 313-885-2100.
