Police Investigating Accusation Against Lions' Player

Police in Michigan are investigating an accusation of possible ``inappropriate contact'' by a Detroit Lions' player involving a 22-year-old woman earlier this week.

Plymouth police Chief Al Cox says the incident allegedly occurred early Tuesday at the Ironwood Grill in the Detroit suburb and was reported to his office Tuesday night.

He would not name the player but said police have talked to him and he denies any wrongdoing. Police hope to finish the investigation next week.

The attorney for the woman, Michael Jaafar, says there were many people at the bar at the time of the incident and that the player was forced to leave the bar.

Jaafar says he has not filed a civil suit and he'll wait until after the criminal investigation to decide whether to bring one.

A Lions' spokesman did not return a message seeking comment Friday.

No charges have been filed.
