Police Finish Probe Of Claim Against Lions Player

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Police in Plymouth have completed their investigation into an accusation of possible "inappropriate contact'' by a Lions' player involving a 22-year-old woman.

WWJ spoke with Plymouth Police Chief Al Cox who said  they've interviewed about ten people over the past ten days of the investigation into the alleged incident at the Ironwood Grille in the early morning of January 4th,  where Cox says a group of about 10 Lions players and support staff had joined a private party.

Cox says the player has been cooperating with investigators.

"Completely. The entire time, he's answered all of our questions. He's been very easy to reach. Anytime we needed to speak with him he's made himself available... He's been completely cooperative," Cox said.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office says they have received a warrant request regarding an allegation of a sexual assault involving a female and a Detroit Lions player from the Plymouth Police Department.  The warrant request is currently being reviewed and no  further information will be released until a decision has been made.
