Police Find 1049 Oxycodone Pills After Stopping Rental Car For Following Too Closely On I-75

WAYNE COUNTY (WWJ) - Michigan State Police troopers ended up making a drug bust after stopping a vehicle on I-75 for following too closely.

Officials say the incident unfolded on Monday when troopers assigned to the Special Enforcement Section, Hometown Security Team, stopped a vehicle in southern Wayne County.

Upon making contact with the three occupants, troopers learned that the vehicle was a third-party rental. Troopers also received conflicting stories from all three occupants.

At that point, K-9 "Otto" was deployed to conduct a free air sniff. When Otto gave a positive indication on the vehicle, troopers then began searching the vehicle.

During the search, troopers located a small amount of marijuana shake in the vehicle but nothing else, according to police. A search of the occupants was conducted and a total of 1049 oxycodone pills was recovered from inside the pants of two passengers, police said.

The two male passengers were arrested for possession with intent to deliver analogues. Charges are pending prosecutors review.
