Plea Deal Being Discussed In Stupak Threat Case
A northern Michigan man charged with threatening U.S. Rep. Bart Stupak is working on a possible plea bargain.
Prosecutors and the lawyer for Russell Hesch of West Branch filed papers Friday asking a judge to give them until Sept. 20 to negotiate a deal.
The 73-year-old Hesch is charged with threatening Stupak and his family over the Democrat's vote in favor of a health-care law. He's accused of writing a letter that threatened to paint the Mackinac Bridge with Stupak's blood.
His son, David Hesch of Loveland, Colo., is accused of mailing the letter. He's also working on a deal in federal court in Bay City.
