Pistons Report: Notes, Quotes

--Detroit may have the league's worst field-goal percentage defense but Knicks All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony hasn't noticed. He was held to six points Friday, including a scoreless second half, as Tayshaun Prince and Rodney Stuckey blanketed him. Anthony has shot 25 percent and averaged 12 points in two games against Detroit this season. The last time Anthony scored fewer points in a game without getting injured was also at The Palace, when he was held to five points in 28 minutes on Jan. 26, 2005.

--The starting backcourt combination of Austin Daye and Tracy McGrady Friday might have been the tallest in NBA history. Daye is 6-feet-11 and McGrady is 6-8. Daye got the start because Richard Hamilton missed the game for personal reasons. Head coach John Kuester wanted a bigger body on New York guard Landry Fields, one of the league's most prolific rebounding guards. Fields was held to four rebounds.

"My main focus was to play good defense, keep Landry off the boards and knock down shots," said Daye, who had 11 points. "I did a pretty good job of that but I haven't been knocking down as many threes lately."

QUOTE TO NOTE
"It's my job to be ready, not to complain and pout. I have to stay positive. I thought we need energy." -- Reserve guard Will Bynum on playing the fourth quarter Friday against New York after not playing the previous seven quarters.
