Pistons Report: Notes, Quotes

Greg Monroe's 17 rebounds against New York Sunday was the most in a single game by a Pistons rookie since Terry Tyler had 18 on Oct. 17, 1978 against the New Orleans Jazz. Monroe has been selected to play in the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge game during All-Star weekend in Los Angeles Feb. 18.

"Any time you're voted into the All-Star game by the coaches, that speaks volumes," head coach John Kuester said. "It means you've gained respect from the other coaches around the league."

--Charlotte center Kwame Brown played sparingly in his two seasons with Detroit but he's emerged as the Bobcats' starting center. He gouged his former team Wednesday with 14 points and 10 rebounds, his fifth double-double in 11 games. He had just two double-doubles with the Pistons.

"That's all the league is about, an opportunity and what you make of it," Brown said. "Here, I didn't get to play much, four or five minutes here and there. That's hard for anybody. I'm just blessed to have a situation where I can play some positive minutes in the starting lineup."

QUOTE TO NOTE
"People don't understand that when you boo me, I play better." -- Charlotte guard Stephen Jackson, after scoring 39 points against the Pistons. Jackson, who fought with Detroit fans in the infamous 2004 brawl, silenced a Palace heckler with 22 second-half points.
