Pistons Land Safely After Minor Plane Trouble

HOUSTON, Texas (WWJ) - Everyone is fine after the Detroit Pistons team jet made a safe landing in Houston Monday night ... when a hydraulic warning indicator went off in the cockpit, prior to landing at William Hobby Airport.

The warning indicated a possible problem with the plane's left side landing gear. That's when the pilot sent a "distress signal" to the airport tower. WWJ Newsradio 950 spoke with Gabe Gutierrez, a reporter with CBS affiliate KHOU-TV in Houston.

"Some sort of hydraulic issue, and as a precaution ... emergency vehicles were called to the runway, but they were not needed," Gutierrez said. "There were no injuries reported, everything seems to be normal, no problems reported."

There were 44 people onboard, and team spokesman Kevin Grigg says no one was injured.

The Pistons play the Houston Rockets Tuesday at 8pm EST.
