Pat Caputo- Monroe Must, At Minimum, Be Part Of The Pistons Solution

Some would say the NBA Draft has become a crapshoot. Others would say, because there is so much uncertainty surrounding even those selected relatively early, it has become the ultimate example of the need for quality scouting and player procurement.

In truth, the answer probably lies somewhere in the middle.

Joe Dumars, the Pistons' President of Basketball Operations, nonetheless spoke confidently Thursday after the Pistons selected 6-foot-11, 250-pound center Greg Monroe from Georgetown with the seventh overall pick in the NBA Draft.

Monroe does have good balls skills. He is one of those big men who looks like he went to late legendary coach Pete Newell's big man's camp. He has good feet and hands and a knack for maneuvering his way to the basket. He is also a very good passer, which is a plus for a big man operating from the post.
