Pat Caputo: Might Be Wise To Wait Before Buying Into The Tigers
One of baseball's long-standing adages is the "June Swoon."
It's stood the test of time because it fits.
June is when the pennant race begins to take shape in earnest. The pretenders are separated by the contenders in June and July. Then August comes, and a slow build up to the frenzy of the stretch run in September.
That should be good news the Tigers. After two months of spotty baseball, the Tigers have taken to the heat of summer like Lady Gaga to costumes.
They swept a series from Minnesota at home, taking full advantage of an injury-ravaged team that has cut their collective heart out in the past. They went to Chicago, as the White Sox were on a roll after sweeping a series at Fenway Park from the Boston Red Sox, and won two out of three.
