Demar Dorsey, a defensive back from Lauderdale Lakes, Fla., was both the star and the lightning rod of last winter's University of Michigan football recruiting class.
Last week, it all became a moot point when, although he is reportedly academically qualified by the standards of the NCAA, Dorsey was not admitted to Michigan.
Is it good news or bad news? Dorsey represented obvious risk because of well-documented past legal issues, and question marks academically because he attended an alternative school — termed LifeSkills — for a portion of his preparatory studies.
