Pat Caputo: Kellen McCormick Is Making His Own Mark

There have been many great basketball players from Oakland County. Tim McCormick, who starred for Clarkston High School, ranks with Campy Russell from Pontiac Central and B.J. Armstrong from Birmingham Brother Rice among the very best.

He led Clarkston to the Class A state semifinals. He starred at the University of Michigan. He had a long NBA career.

He was 6-11 and could play in the post, ran the floor well and had a nice scoring touch.

So you can say his son, Kellen, a 6-8 junior at Pontiac Notre Dame Prep, has a strong pedigree.

And while it has become obvious Kellen is going to play Division I college basketball, his story is a lot different than that of his father.
