Time will tell whether the Lions, as they are currently constructed - with Jim Schwartz as head coach, Matthew Stafford at quarterback and Ndamukong Suh as minister of defense - will turn around more than five decades of unprecedented NFL misfortune.
But if it transpires, don't be surprised if the Lions' 37-25 victory over the Washington Redskins Sunday at Ford Field is looked upon as a turning point.
Now that was a football team. Not one that necessarily overwhelmed the opposition, but rather one that overcame moments of adversity.
And to me, that has been the Lions' biggest issue for as long as I can remember.
