Pat Caputo: A .500 Record, Missing The Playoffs Wouldn't Be A Good Season For The Lions
The Sporting News was not deterred.
Even with the NFL's lockout, the publication nonetheless released its annual preseason pro football magazine.
Without any idea how free agency will turn out, and based only on returning players and those selected in the NFL Draft in April, The Sporting News came to the following good-news, bad news conclusion about the Lions.
The good news: The Lions will finish second in the NFC North in 2011, ahead of the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings, and behind the defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers.
The bad news: The Lions will finish with just an 8-8 record and miss the playoffs.
Is that good enough?
I would think not.
