Overheard After A Win!

Overheard After A Win!

The Lions end a 5 game losing skid and a 19 game winless streak against divisional opponents with a victory over the Packers Sunday at Ford Field 7 to 3. After the game the players and coaches got to talking...

Jim Schwartz;

General thoughts on the game:
"Well it wasn't pretty but it was beautiful! We didn't expect a pitchers duel today but that's were we ended up and even though we had a couple times where it looked like we were going to let it slip away, missing a field goal and turning it over in the red zone, we found a way like we have been saying for most of the season to make that one extra play."

On his players heart:
"There was some times like when we missed that field goal where it would have been easy to say, same old thing. But our guys don't and it just comes down to making that one more play."

On quarterback Drew Stanton:
"Drew [Stanton] was struggling today throwing the ball, was really having a hard time finding his rhythm but that last drive he made some throws and got the ball in the playmakers hands. Just getting the ball to a lot of different guys letting them do their work."

Drew Stanton;

On his play:
"I played a bad 3 quarters of football and I have to go in there and make corrections and learn from this film. I already know the mistakes that I made and it's a little bit easier to swallow it with a win obviously but those can't happen."

On finally beating a divisional opponent:
"It's nice you know it eases your mind. If we want to be where we want to get to eventually in the future around here then we need to start winning division games, especially at home, it's a must. When you start preparing for these guys you know them in and out, you know the guys that will be out there, you just have to go out there and execute and do some stuff. We were able to just go out there and make a few plays."

On his touchdown to Will Heller:
"Will did an amazing job of battling through everybody that had responsibility on that play and you see the end result."

Will Heller;

On his touchdown:
" You know I'm sure they were not expecting me to run it [the play] of all people, but like I said it was a great call and a great drive and we scored."

Viewpoint of the game:
"Yeah it was an interesting, weird game but it was a win and that is all people care about and it's all we care about."

Louis Delmas;

On stopping Packers on last drive:

"All I know is that everybody was on the same page, everybody knew at the end of the day we could not let them score and at the end of the day that's what we did, we held them down."

Corey Williams;

On his excitement;

"I'm so excited right now my words are getting tangled up and everything. It was just a big win man, it was a team effort."

On the Lions heart:

"We got heart, earlier in the season I questioned a lot of guys, but to come out and perform like they did today was huge!"

On experts still not picking the Lions to win:

"We get doubted, we have been doubted the whole season that's nothing new. One thing about us, we keep it in the locker room, we don't buy into all that he said, she said stuff. They got a job to say who they think will win but we worry about what's going on in this locker room."
