Organizers Say 2011 Auto Show A Success
DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - The 2011 North American International Auto Show being touted as an overwhelming success.
Organizers say attendance was up for a second straight year with over 735,000 visitors descending upon Cobo Center for the auto show, including a record-setting crowd of 75,327 reported for Friday.
This year's auto show also saw increases in international media turn-out and vehicle reveals, as well as the return of several manufacturers.
Officials say the local economy also saw an estimated boost of about $350 million in the form of hotels, transportation, catering and entertainment.

If you're planning for 2012, next year's show public is scheduled to run from Jan. 14-22. Press previews are Jan. 9-10, industry previews are Jan. 11-12 and the charity preview is Jan. 13.
