Ohio Poll Worker Allegedly Pulls Gun During Pivotal Voting Day

OHIO (CBS Detroit) The Ohio Primary today is a pivotal contest in the race for the White House.

Republican Gov. John Kasich and challenger Donald Trump are neck and neck in what many believe is a do or die race for Kasich, while Democrats Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are in a desperate scramble to grab 143 available delegate votes.

And with the eyes of the world watching, this happened:

Alan Bethea, a 45-year-old poll worker, allegedly got into an argument with other workers and pulled out a gun. It  happened at Louisa May Alcott School, 10308 Baltic Road.

"He became involved in a verbal argument with other workers," police said in a press release. "He then produced a .380 from a backpack. He did not point the weapon directly at anyone but verbally threatened them."

Bethea left on foot and was arrested a short time later at West 107th Street and Detroit Avenue without incident, police said.

The weapon and a small amount of marijuana were found in his backpack, officers added. Bethea was taken to the Central Prison Unit to await formal charges.

The Board of Elections released a statement later in the afternoon saying the worker was fired, per Cleveland.com.
