Officials Say Alcohol A Factor In Fatal Crash

HIGHLAND TWP. (WWJ) - Oakland County Sheriff officials say a son witnessed his father's death in a car crash Sunday night.

WWJ Newsradio 950 spoke Monday with Under Sheriff Mike McCabe who described what deputies found as they arrived at the crash site on Duke Lake Road.

"When they got on scene, they found a 43-year old Highland Township man who was pinned in his 1995 Dodge Neon, had lost control on a curve and slid sideways into a tree," McCabe said.

"His son was following and apparently did witness the accident," he said.

Donald Rainey of Highland Township was pronounced dead at the scene.  Rainey was wearing a seat belt, but the officials says alcohol use appears to be a factor.

 The crash remains under investigation.
