Obama Aide Says U-M Chief To Lead Innovation Panel
U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke says University of Michigan President Mary Sue Coleman will help lead a new federal council on economic development through technology. Locke announced the appointment Tuesday during a conference on innovation at the university's Ann Arbor campus.
He says Coleman will help head the National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
AnnArbor.com reports Locke says the U.S. is ``not doing a good enough job'' of getting ideas for new products to the marketplace.
Coleman is one of three people chairing the 26-member council. The others are A123Systems Chairman Desh Deshpande and AOL co-founder Steve Case.
