"North Dallas Forty" Author, Peter Gent, Dead At 69

DETROIT (WWJ) - The author of "North Dallas Forty" , Peter Gent,  has died in Bangor, Michigan.  The 69-year-old Gent died Friday of complications of pulmonary disease, according to the D.L. Miller Funeral Home in Bangor.

Gent didn't play college football but got an NFL tryout with the Dallas Cowboys in 1964 and played five seasons.

His book, "North Dallas Forty" was made into a movie starring Nick Nolte and Mac Davis.  Funeral services will be Wednesday in Bangor.
