News and Notes from Lions practice 12-8-10
The Detroit Lions got back to the practice field today with a ton of news to relay to the media. As usual Head Coach Jim Schwartz named his starting quarterback who will be Drew Stanton for a second straight week. Other big news included Alphonso Smith and Kyle Vanden Bosch being placed on injured reserve ending their season. Schwartz very adamant about the fact that Vanden Bosh has not played his last game as a Detroit Lion "This is a speed bump for him, we expect him to play a lot of football for us. We are very excited, we'll get him back and get him back at a high level."
The Lions also getting some good news today as quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for the first time since reinjuring his shoulder against the Jets on Novermber 7th. Stafford when asked how encouraged he is after today throwing session replied " small, small step you know even after you throw some it's not the biggest issue". The first overall pick from 2009 wants to play again this season if he is healthy enough to.
There was also some more backlash about the personal foul called on Ndamuking Suh in Sundays loss to the Bears. Suh has been fined 15 thousand dollars by the NFL for his unnecessary roughness penalty on quarterback Jay Cutler. While Suh was very subdued about the fine, safety Louis Delmas was the opposite "Man 15 thousand dollars for a push down. I don't know what he was supposed to do, if he didn't push Cutler down Cutler would have scored. If your a defensive lineman watching the quarterback run by you, I guess you got to hold him up until a smaller guy like myself comes by, then we will be able to take him down."
