Motorcyclist Critically Injured In Crash On Lodge Freeway
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - Authorities say a motorcyclist is clinging to life after being involved in an accident on the Lodge Freeway in Southfield that had the southbound lanes shut down for hours.
The accident happened just before 4 a.m. Saturday on southbound M-10 at the Southfield Freeway.
According to police, a 23-year-old Centerline man was driving a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle "at a very excessive speed" when he crashed into the back of a 1994 Chevy SUV.
The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of numerous broken bones and other injuries. He was last listed in critical condition.
The driver of the Chevy was uninjured.
Police say the crash remains under investigation.
The southbound lanes of M-10 were closed for nearly five hours while police investigated, but have since reopened.
