More Problems With Car Door Fires

DETROIT (WWJ) - For the second time in less than a week, government investigators are looking into car door fires.

The issues reported in 2006 and 2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazers are similar to those reported earlier in Toyota Camry's and RAV 4's from the 07 model years.

In all of the cases, it appears the fires started in the power window switch. A General Motors spokesman said he isn't sure if they used the same supplier as Toyota.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is trying to determine if a recall is warranted.

In the case of GM, more than 309,000 vehicles could be involved. GM said it's had 12 complaints, including 10 fires.

No injuries have been reported by either GM or Toyota.
