Monroe Cop Dragged In Attempted Drug Bust
MONROE (WWJ) - A suspect is on the run after a Monroe police officer was dragged during an attempted drug bust.
Police told WWJ's Sandra McNeill Detective Tyler Dickerson was driving along Front Street just after 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, when he saw what looked like a drug deal in progress between a man in a car and another standing outside.
The officer stopped to question the suspects. As he leaned into the car, the driver took off, leaving the officer hanging from the window of the vehicle, trapped by the seat belt.
The driver finally stopped, nearly a mile down the road, and the officer was able to free himself. Police say he is fine.
The suspect, 35-year-old Scott Bertram, is still at large. He is driving a 2002 Chevy Monte Carlo, Dale Earnhart Edition with the license plate number 6KG-W59.
