Mom, Ex-Boyfriend Charged In 1992 Blaze That Killed 2 Kids

GENEVA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - A woman and her former boyfriend have been charged in connection with a southwestern Michigan fire that killed her two young children more than two decades ago.

Krysta McFadden, 45, and 43-year-old Clint Dunning, 43, are being held on two counts each of open murder, according to multiple reports.

The Nov. 29, 1992 apartment home fire in Van Buren County's Geneva Township killed 3-year-old Robert Rainey and 5-year-old Amber Rainey. The blaze was ruled an arson.

State police detective Chuck Christensen says investigators began reviewing the case about three years ago.

Dunning was extradited this week to Michigan from a jail in Missouri. McFadden was arraigned in September.
