Milford Honors Veterans With Parade
MILFORD (WWJ) - Ninety-three-year-old Steven Smith, a retired U.S. Air Force pilot, was among the crowds at the Milford Memorial Day Parade Monday morning.
Smith tells WWJ he went to Australia as a glider pilot and recalls one of his fondest memories:
"Before I came home from Australia, I married my wife, that's 67 years ago, we have four children and I've never regretted a day of it," says Smith.
"We hauled gasoline, cement, troops and prisoners of war, we hauled everything, so I accumulated quite a few hours...about 8000 hours of flying time," says Smith.
Several cities honored military men and women with Memorial Day parades and celebrations.
