Detroit Middle School Basketball Coach Facing Additional Sex Charges

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Another alleged victim has come forward in the case against a Detroit middle school assistant basketball coach accused of having inappropriate sexual contact with young boys.

The Wayne County prosecutor's office says 28-year-old Antoine Jones was arraigned Monday and is due back in court later this month. Charges of second-degree criminal sexual conduct involve a now-15-year-old boy from June 2014 until February of this year.

Jones last month was ordered to stand trial on sex charges involving some boys he coached between November 2014 through March 2016 at A.L. Holmes Elementary-Middle School.

Those boys, ranging in age from 13 to 15, testified about the exchange of inappropriate messages and videos. One 14-year-old testified that Jones performed a sex act on himself in front of him and at least one boy said he was touched inappropriately.

Police were notified after the mother of one of the teens discovered messages on her son's phone.

Jones — who is also charged with child sexually abusive activity, using a computer to commit a crime and distributing sexually explicit matter to children — was earlier placed on unpaid administrative leave from his position at this school.

The Associated Press left a message seeking comment from Jones' lawyer.

He remains held on $1 million bond.
